Comments: A sampler with very small scal embroidery. The center is decorated with a stylized, symmetrical floral form with pomegranate base, tulip top, and a pair of carnation scrollwork. A vine of flowers above and a row below. Stitches include satin, stem, cross, guilloche, and seed. The surround is filled with rectangular panels, each with a different counted stitch form. 2 large panels on eithre side of the center have motifs with filled grounds and outlines in Byzantine stitch and a variation of Assisi work. The small 34 small panels contain a variety of fillings, mostly geometric, and utilize Holbein stitch, counted threads, and needleweaving, cross-stitch, straight stitch, and French knots. The border is rows of 8-pointed stars.
