Comments: Native American (Ojibwe) beaded purse with bright colors, naturalistic patterns, and use of crystal tube and large beads. This bag was likely made for touris markets beginning with Tuscadora Indians at Niagra Falls aroun 1840 (Antiquw Combs & Purses, Haertig Pzzo). 'Strawberry' shaped black velveteen bag with manufactured metal frame, ball, and soulet closure. Somewhat abstract floral pattern, and central floral element that branches into five vines-like tendrils. An unusual V-shaped design done in white marks addition of replacement fabric. THere is also an interesting treatment of the cord, wrapped around with silk at intervals.
