Comments: William Penn was a British Quaker who founded the colony of Pennsylvania. The design shows a scroll of paper with Delaware River printed on it. There is one repeat of the pattern with both selvages. The design shows horses, Native Americans, and European settlers. They are both male and female, of all ages. The plate was printed in red, c. 1785. Examples printed in other colors are held in other collections.
