Comments: There is a possibility this piece could also be English.  This is a commercially manufactured variety that attempts to evoke hand done Marseilles work.  Rectangular, white, cotton damask crib spread depicting various nursery rhymes, the alphabet, numbers and birds.  The central field of the spred is dominated by the nursery rhyme images, several of which are clearly labeled, including Cock Robin, Ride a Cock Horse and Little Bo Peep.  The labeled nursery figures are supplemented with several other unlabeled characters and animals.  Surrounding the nursery characters is a scalloped daisy chain, with bows at points.  A scalloped vine surrounds the daisy chain.  Outside the scalloped area, the field is dominated by birds with spread wings.  The birds align in a two diamond pattern.  Also included are numbers 1-10 on the top and the alphabet along the bottom.
