Comments: Trapezoidal fragment of brocaded silk containing elaborate metal embroidery. Fragment measures 13.75' and 15.5' at top and bottom respectively, and 6.325 and 6.75' at left and right edges respectively. Silk has an off white ground depicting white twisting ribbons and floral vines in red, white, anc varying shades of pink, blue and green. Gold and silver metal embroidery also depict twisting ribbons and flowers, and further embellished centers and leaves of some brocaded flowers. Embroidered ribbon winds around outside edges beginning 3.5' in from bottom left corner and ends 3.5' in from bottom right corner. Two other strands of embroidered ribbon run vertically from the beginning and termination points of the first strand to the lower edge of the portion of the first ribbon which runs along the top edge of the fragment. Some satin stitching has been accomplished in blue and green silk yarns in order to patch loss areas in the brocaded flowers. The brocade has also been undergirded with a coarse, plain weave silk to support the metal embroidery couched to the fragments surface.
